Step on News 24 Date posted: Wednesday 12th October 2005 Avid viewers of BBC News may have already seen two reports featuring Latin Link on BBC News 24. Thanks to the one of our Summer Step team leaders, who just happens to be a reporter for the BBC, issues facing farmers in Ecuador are being brought to the public's attention on the BBC news channel. First screened last month, the report features Latin Link's Short-term Coordinator in Ecuador- Orlando Castro's new flower growing cooperative in Santo Domingo. The new initiative (which is featured in next month's Latinfile magazine) is aimed at helping those hit by the decreasing value of Banana crops, start their own small flower growing businesses. There is also a second report, which features footage filmed at this year's Summer Step Orientation, which looks at the effect that student fees are having on the number of students participating in short-term mission. And how this has caused mission agencies to open up their short-term opportunities to make them accessible to people of all ages. If that isn't enough to make sure you tune in, then how about the chance to see Mr Chris Stansfield giving his first ever BBC interview! The reports will be aired regularly over the next few weeks. We don't know exactly when in the schedule, so you'll just have to keep watching!...
